Everything flows, nothing ever stays the same. The same can be said about the third studio album of the fast-rising Dutch rock band DOOL. Aptly entitled "The Shape of Fluidity" there is not just musical innovation but the full-length revolves around themes of personal change, physical change, psychological change, and the ever-changing world around us. DOOL and particularly singer and guitarist Raven van Dorst ask questions: How does change affect us? How do we keep being ourselves in a world that is so incredibly demanding and aggressive towards the individual? We must be as fluid as water to navigate ourselves through this ocean of possibilities and uncertainties – and make peace with chaos and impermanence. Musically, DOOL continue on the path laid out on the two previous studio recordings of heartfelt rock music with added metal elements, while displaying a maturity and focus in songwriting that has grown out of experience. "The Shape of Fluidity" exhibits an eclectic yet seamless amalgamation of progressive and post-rock as well as doom and heavy metal in combination with an inherent catchiness and a dynamic backdrop. It is hardly surprising that the theme of the album that pitches the concept of identity against the backdrop of a world in constant flux connects the album's lyrics to the biography of lead vocalist Raven. Born intersex, doctors at the time assumed that they could surgically determine which kind of life the infant should lead and decided that the child should be a girl. This has led to a life full of soul searching, fighting taboos and breaking boundaries, until recently Raven decided to reclaim that which others have tried so hard to take away from them, and finally embrace their hermaphroditic nature. The band derived the name DOOL from the Dutch word for 'wandering'. When their debut album "Here Now, There Then" was released in 2017, it became an instant success. Their fresh and wild rock and metal sound received "Album of the Month" titles in the renowned German magazines Metal Hammer and Rock Hard as well as the "Best Debut Album 2017" award from the former, while Vice (US), Aardschok (NL), and De Volkskrant (NL) happily chimed in with heaping praise on the young Dutch band. With their sophomore full-length "Summerland" released in 2020, DOOL successfully exceeded the already sky-high expectations and scored even more "Album of the Month" awards in German Rock Hard (10/10) and Sonic Seducer magazines as well as #2 soundcheck positions in Metal.de, Metal Hammer (DE) and another #1 in the Polish edition – with a pile glowing reviews on both sides of the Atlantic. With "The Shape of Fluidity", DOOL offer so much more than just damn cool music. These extra dimensions of depth and meaning are all part of their unique appeal and come out clearly on the new album. May all those who wander gather under the fluid flag of DOOL!
"Visions of Summerland (Live at Arminius Church Rotterdam)" is far more than just another live album. DOOL recorded these tracks in the darkest of all nights during the winter solstice of December 23, 2022. It was not just physically the gloomiest time of the year, but also spiritually a dark hour for the Dutch dark rock shooting stars. They had hardly been able to tour their latest, sophomore full-length "Summerland" due to the global pandemic. They were also aware that this would be the last concert with their friend and drummer Micha Haring, who had previously announced in private that he was leaving DOOL for personal reasons. The stage seemed set for a most melancholic performance in the fitting location of the Arminiuskerk ("Arminius Church") in Rotterdam. Surrounded by the sacred architecture and grave religious imagery and in front of family, friends and their most loyal fans, DOOL put all their heart's blood, sweat, and tears into their songs while on stage. The band wove pure magic on stage. Out of despair and pain grew the bright light of musical beauty and hope of what singer Raven calls their quite likely best performance ever. Ever since rising from the ashes of THE DEVIL'S BLOOD and ELLE BANDITA in the old Dutch harbour city of Rotterdam in the year 2015, DOOL have left their gloomy mark on the European dark rock scene. Their debut album "Here Now, There Then" was released in 2017 and immediately struck gold receiving "album of the month titles" in the renowned German magazines Metal Hammer and Rock Hard as well as the "Best Debut Album 2017" award from the former – among other high praise from around the globe including from Vice (US), Aardschok (NL), and De Volkskrant (NL). With their sophomore full-length "Summerland" released in April 2020, the shooting stars around charismatic guitarist and singer Raven van Dorst confirmed their head start and garnered even more accolades in the media. "Summerland" scored more "Album of the Month" awards in German Rock Hard (10/10) and Sonic Seducer magazines as well as a #2 soundcheck positions in Metal.de, Metal Hammer (DE) and another #1 in the Polish edition – with glowing reviews on both sides of the Atlantic. Before DOOL will unleash their third full-length in spring 2024, the Dutch dark rockers decided to offer their dedicated following this amazing live document as a gift. "Visions of Summerland (Live at Arminius Church Rotterdam)" brings musical light into a world of darkness.
The Dutch band radiates an undeniable raw energy that blends classic hard rock, gothic pop and psychedelic metal to create their own dynamic sound.

Audibly influenced by bands such as Sisters of Mercy and Sonic Youth, DOOL bends these sounds to fit its own vision, giving birth to an ominous new entity. Led by striking singer Raven van Dorst (Elle Bandita) alongside guitarists Nick Polak (Gold) and Reinier Vermeulen (The New Media), bassist Job van de Zande (The Devil's Blood, Malkovich) and drummer Micha Haring (The Devil's Blood, The Hands), DOOL has become a hotly-tipped underground buzz band on the strength of one captivating song, "Oweynagat", and its accompanying music video. Heralding DOOL's debut album (release in January 2017), this very song is now released as CD single and on vinyl in 12" format. With "Oweynagat - Inside The Cave Of The Cat" the single additionally includes a semi-acoustic version of the title track which is exclusive to this release.

Holland's most notorious rock musicians have gathered to form DOOL, a dark rock band featuring bassist Job van de Zande and drummer Micha Haring from celebrated cult rockers The Devil's Blood and the country's most infamous rock singer, the striking Raven van Dorst. Rounded out by guitarists Nick Polak (Gold) and Reinier Vermeulen (The New Media), DOOL radiates an undeniable raw energy and has created a distinct and dynamic sound right from the start. On the strength of its captivating debut single, "Oweynagat", and a red hot live performance at Roadburn 2016, DOOL has quickly become a hotly-tipped buzz band in underground circles.

DOOL's much anticipated debut album, "Here Now, There Then", is set for release on February 17, 2017, and proves all advance praise to be more than justified. Recorded by producer Pieter Kloos (The Devil's Blood, Motorpsycho), "Here Now, There Then" is an album of supreme songwriting and remarkable musical diversity, blending classic hard rock, gothic pop and psychedelic metal in an ever-surprising manner. Carried by infinite, hypnotic guitar lines, DOOL takes the listener from dark caves, inhabited by ancient ghosts on its debut single "Oweynagat", to the deep abysses of a broken heart on cuts like "Death of Love". From the sensual and teasing ("Words on Paper"), to the imposing and ominous (the 10 minute epic "Vantablack"), DOOL hits every pressure point, striking with the deadly precision of a venomous asp.

""Here Now, There Then" is about dreaming, ambition and will," says Raven van Dorst. "The album is about breaking boundaries and behavioral patterns while destroying stigmas. It is a mantra for whoever needs it and in any way one chooses to use it. It is the shadow lands between fantasy and reality. A fairy tale in a concrete background."

Dutch for "wandering", the sound of DOOL is a call to let oneself float freely and weather the storms of everyday life, taking flight into the wild unknown…all those who wander are DOOL.

Since their hatching from underneath the industrial fumes of Dutch harbour city Rotterdam back in 2015, DOOL have undeniably left their gloomy mark on the European dark rock scene. After having risen from the ashes of both THE DEVIL’S BLOOD and ELLE BANDITA, this pack of wildlings has gathered and set their collective goal to achieve creative evolution and spiritual ascension through the unity that was since then called DOOL. The name DOOL derives from the Dutch word for ‘wandering’, the five-piece started soul-searching their way through rhythms and melodies that would soon evolve into their debut album "Here Now, There Then". A first glimpse of what DOOL was becoming was unveiled by the single "Oweynagat" and its eerie and mysterious accompanying video. The full album was released in 2017 on German Prophecy Productions, who were one of many record labels offering the band a record deal immediately after their infamous Roadburn Festival (NL) 2016 showcase. International press praised "Here Now, There Then" massively and showered the debut with love all over, which included the Metal Hammer "Debut Album of the Year Award". Following this, the band embarked on an ever escalating siege of European clubs and festivals. Opening for BEHEMOTH mastermind Nergal's ME AND THAT MAN on their first EU tour, the Dutch caught the eye of many booking agents and promotors. Impressed by DOOL's fierce live presence, they offered headline shows and festivals spots across Europe. Two years of extensive touring followed, including highlights such as the Wacken Open Air (DE), Graspop (BE), Metal Days (SI), Lowlands (NL), Fortarock (NL), Hellfest (FR), Wave Gotik Treffen (DE), Rock Hard Fest (DE), Stoned From The Underground (DE), Metalitalia Festival (IT), North Of The Wall (UK), and many more. 2019 saw the release of the "Love Like Blood" EP, including the band’s take on the classic KILLING JOKE song – always a crowd favourite during DOOL live shows, which again received raving reviews. April 2020 saw see the long-anticipated release of their sophomore album "Summerland", recorded by Martin Ehrencrona (TRIBULATION, IN SOLITUDE) and mixed by CULT OF LUNA's Magnus Lindberg. An album premiere show at Roadburn 2020 along with several planned worldwide tours were put on hold due to the global Covid-19 pandemic, and will be continued from September 2021. In the meantime, "Summerland" found its way into the German national charts (#9) and received massive applause from the international music press throughout Europe once again. To mention just a few highlights: The album won #1 in the soundchecks of Rock Hard both in Germany and France as well as in Sonic Seducer (DE) and Metal Hammer Poland DOOL also scored a #2 in Metal Hammer Germany and #4 in Deaf Forever Germany. Metal Hammer (UK) declared, "Summerland" to be: "The sound of a band who have found themselves."
The Dutch found their debut album "Here Now, There Then" in many "best of 2017" lists and reader polls while constantly touring the continent, playing every festival from Roadburn to Wacken, House Of The Holy to Graspop.

The "Love Like Blood" EP will shorten the wait for their second album with a cover of the eponymous Killing Joke classic and two b-side tracks from Rock Hard Festival capturing Dool's unbridled live power.

Singer/guitarist Raven van Dorst comments on the choice of the EP's lead track: "Apart from being a massive hit during our childhood years that was weaved into the very structure of our musical beings, 'Love Like Blood' remains a gem to revisit over and over. And so we did on our first tour as a band, listening to it in the van, and started wondering what it would sound like without its signature staccato beat. Back home, we took the plunge and dived deep into its dreamy waters. After a few rehearsals, we started playing our version live and grew to it the more often we did. By now, it almost doesn't feel like a cover song anymore, so we decided to record and share it with you. Here's our tribute to one of the best songs ever written."
